Hey friend hey!

I’m Michelle, but my friends call me Shelly! I’m a homeschool mom of 4 and serial business owner. Pictured with me is my gorgeous teen who will be graduating high school in just a few years! Yikes! She inspired me to dream bigger! She is one of my biggest fans, cheerleaders, and challenges me to be my best self each and every day! I remember starting to homeschool 10 plus years ago, and there were not a ton of resources for homeschool kids around money! So I created my own! Here at Kid$ Finance Camp, we are a fun, financial education platform that helps kids learn how to win with money through budgeting, saving, investing, giving, and entrepreneurship.  We want ALL children to learn early how to build a strong financial legacy!

We believe that winning with money is a process that takes time, commitment, consistency, positive mindset around money, discipline, and education.  One of the biggest challenges when educating our students is a lack of financial knowledge. So they go into college or early adulthood not knowing how to budget, invest, and save.  Or they think that if they don’t go to college, they can’t have a successful life.  So we want to debunk that myth.  We believe once our kids have the proper financial foundation, they will be in a position to start building wealth from an early age!

We focus on ages one year olds to young college-aged students!  Our mission is to help at least 100,000 students gain financial literacy (especially marginalized groups) by 2032.  Our passion lies in empowering the kids in the community with the tools, resources, and education needed to build a strong financial future!

My beliefs stem from my own experiences as a child and not knowing anything about money or financial literacy!  I remember going off to college at UNC-Chapel Hill, and someone asking me if I wanted a free t-shirt.  Of course as a broke, college student, I said yes….and next thing you know, I had my first credit card.  I didn’t even know what a credit card was.  And I definitely had never heard of a budget.  What was credit?  And why did I need it?  I had no idea about anything finance related.  After making so many financial mistakes early on like late payments, low credit score, poor financial habits stemming from of lack of financial knowledge, and later paying off over $65,000 worth of debt, and building to my credit to almost 800, we have built a strong financial legacy for our children that we want to share with others.

So let’s teach our kids how to have a strong financial future! And guess what friend, it starts today!
